Restoring Onondaga Creek
A Community-Led Approach to Ecological Stewardship
Through a Syracuse Parks Department initiative, TEAL has adopted the Onondaga Creek Park section of the creek, taking on responsibility for its care and maintenance. This area will serve as the heart of our volunteer events and educational programs. By partnering with organizations like the Creek Rats, we will expand our impact, organizing restoration efforts across multiple locations.
Together, we can restore Onondaga Creek as a thriving natural resource for both people and wildlife.
Permaculture and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. TEAL is committed to revitalizing Onondaga Creek through trash removal, ecological restoration, and habitat creation. Our efforts focus on removing invasive species, planting native vegetation, and enhancing biodiversity to support local wildlife.

A healthier, more diverse Onondaga Creek will provide essential ecosystem services, such as natural pest control and pollination, benefiting nearby gardens and farms. Additionally, restoring the creek will improve the mental and physical well-being of local residents by creating a cleaner, greener community space.
